    Cathy, I was on a weekly regime of Taxol for 16 weeks and it was tolerable. The side effects that I experienced were hair loss, some fingertip numbness and tingling.   • Single Mastectomy -- Need Tips & Advice

    Hi ladies, I will be going in for a modiified radical mastectomy (single with lymph node removal) on February 4th.     Hi Kari, When my scalp was irritated, I used oatmeal soap to wash. It soothes the skin and really helped the irritation. I shaved my hair to a very short buzz. Then, I would wear a cap around the house to catch all the fuzz that would fall off. It was neater that way. Take good care. Love, Winnie

    Hi ladies - Lisa, Cathy & Pam, Thanks for answering my posting and your advice. I still have some time to consider the Tram Flap (I haven't even done the mastectomy yet!) The Tram Flap was what my surgeon suggested, but who knows what the plastic surgeon will offer when I meet with him. I am thinking of you all and am sending positive vibes

    Hi Kari, I, too, have "Cancer Vixen" and will start reading it soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. I can always read some funny yet informative things on BC. I found a few other books very helpful (not the scare you to death types - which I avoid now). One is called "Just Get Me Through This!" the author's full name

  • Reconstruction - Tram Flap

    Hello everyone, I will be undergoing a modified radical mastectomy in February of the right breast followed by radiation and more chemo. My surgeon advised that if I were to choose reconstruction, the best method for me would be the Tram Flap. Has anyone undergone the Tram Flap? If so, how did you find the procedure to be? How did you feel after this

    You ladies sure put a smile on my face. I shaved my head (peach fuzz now) 5 days after my first treatment last week. I didn't want to shed around the house like a cat. The cool thing is that now showers are a breeze and getting dolled up takes no time at all now. Just a little make-up and go! I love the idea of decorating the head for Halloween
