I was diagnosed with HER2 breast cancer 3 weeks ago. I don't have a great family history! I just lost my maternal aunt who was only 6 yrs older than me. I go for surgery June 23. I need someone to talk to. I am sooo scared! My husband gets very mad when I cry. I can't tell him how I feel. What do I do???

hi Alison,

i'm lisa, sorry to here of your diagnosies, i would like to extend my hand to you in friendship and support. i was diagnosed in Dec 08 with stage IIB breast cancer but was HER2 - . i felt so scared too i think alot of us do when we first hear the news, so many feelings revolve around us what do not know which way to turn, it does not only affect ourself but others around us as well, and i can imagine your hubby is having a difficult type coping with the news, mine did too not to mention my whole family had a hard time with it. luckily i had a breast counselor to help us through alot of it, and my hubby and i had alot of talking to do with each other, i put my foot down with him and told him i need him there for me, our love is uncondtional and we commited ourselves to be there for each other no matter what they were our vows.

it has been 7 long months for me and i am almost done with my chemo treatments i have 2 more to go, i have had alot of rough times, but i have fought hard and strong i pulled myself together and turned to God and it was he who made me the strong person i am today. i learned that i will not allow cancer to control my life, i was going to take control and make cancer fear me now! i stay positive and trust in my God that he will see me through it all.

you are welcome to go to my page and look through it and if you need a friend to talk to i will be around and there are so many ladies here that are very supportive of each others needs as well, i hope your surgery went well and your feeling better, please keep me posted.

sending hugs and prayers your friend, lisa
