Hello, I am a wife, mother and grandmother who loves making crafts, reading, traveling and watching interior design shows on tv.  I recently have found out I have bc and it's been hell dealing with it.  Currently, I work full time and so does my husband.  Macho is a wonderful shih tzu dog I adopted from a local shelter.  He is the best dog ever. My home is in New York.  I have alot to look forward to and am blessed in many ways--yet this breast cancer thing is really throwing me off track.Smile

  • masectomy to be done

The verdict is in and I have to have a masectomy of my right breast.  The agony of waiting and testing is over now and I must go on to the next level which is removing my breast.  Any recommendations because they will be reconstructing the breast at the time of the surgery.

After the first diagnosis, I decided to seek a second opinion.  I went with the second doctor who wanted to perform a lumpectomy.  As of 1/5/09 I had the lumpectomy done with the removal of the sentinel lymph node.  So far everything has gone extremely well. I also had a second surgery to clean the margins on the cancerous tumor area.   I am going to the follow up appointment to hear what the doctor says regarding the next step which I believe may be radiation.  Radiation has been tiresome to say the least.  I have to work full time while doing the radiation.  This means running from the job to the hospital for the radiation treatment.

I am not happy because the breast looks lop-sided and is now dark from the radiation.  Not a pretty sight.  I am tired a bit so I go home after the treatment and rest.  My head is on backwards because I can't seem to do things like I once did.  I am absent-minded, etc.  It's making me crazy.  I don't have chemo brain because the doc says I don't need to do chemo but my mind has left the building all on it's own.  I put on weight and then I lose a pound or two.  It's like a rollercoaster ride.
