A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I was diagnosed with grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma that was ER, PR and HER2/neu negative with 2 positive lymph nodes.  In my case the surgeon and oncologist all agreed that I would have the same survival and reoccurrence rates whether I chose to have a mastectomy or lumpectomy.  I chose the lumpectomy with both chemo and radiation treatments.   Had a total of 4 surgeries to clean the margins and infections, as well as placement of the port.

I am a recent survivor at the age of 42 after 6 rounds of chemo and 24 radiation treatments.  I am a wife and mother of 2 teenagers.

Unfortunately I have other medical issues which causes 24/7 pain, nerve damage pain and other issues that required me to medically retire at the age of 40 and I also acquired complications from my choice of cancer treatments.  I live life moment by moment as I never know from one day to the next the severity of pain the day may bring so I have learned from an early age not to take my health or life for granted.  I have had approximately 34 major surgeries beginning when I was 4, which also includes the cancer related surgeries. I truly believe in trying to be positive and not look upon my experiences negatively.
