Hi! I'm Crissy.  I am 37 years old, married with two small children, 3 & 8.  I was diagnosed with Stage II, breast cancer on 7/30/08.  It felt like an entire brick house fell on me.  I hope this site will give me the encouragement I need to continue on.  My first treatment was anything but good and i'm scheduled to have my second very soon.

Hi!  My first treatment was on 9/26/08.  My doctor hoped that I would wake up in the morning feeling "Refreshed".  I was anything but refreshed.  I was so sick.  I felt sick before treatment was done and leaving the office I knew I was not good.  I had hot flashes, hot and cold sweats, throat sores, vomitting, diarreah.  I could not eat, could not keep a sip of water down, trying to keep my meds down long enough was tough.

My Nadir check-up a week later was not so good.  I had lost a bit of weight, my blood pressure was low and my white blood cell count dropped to 0.7.  I as well as the doctor was concerned.

My second treatment will be on 10/11/08 and I am concerned how my body will react this time. I need all the encouragement I can get right now, my first treatment was not so good.  I have to remain hopeful for myself as well as my family.

I'd love to hear from anyone!

12/31/08   Last chemo treatment.  What a wonderful day!  I went through 4 rounds of AC and 4 rounds of Taxol.  I would be happy to tell my story to anyone and help out if I can.  Just one thing to remember...

    You can get through this!!!!!!!

     5/13/09

Okay, with a special request I am updating my journal.  So here goes...

I finished radiation on Mar. 18, 2009.  That was a good day, next best to finishing chemo.  I did really well through radiation.  My skin hardly burned at all.  The techs were very amazed that I did so well being so fair skinned.  I am very very thankful it went well.  Chemo was terrible.

I know that God works in mysterious ways.  I had the opportunity to meet someone that was going through radiation the same time as myself.  We had briefly met one day, I was done with treatment and she was just going in.  We come to find out through this site that we live about an hour from each other.  We got to know each other a little and were able to meet at the Race for the Cure on May 9, 2009.  I never welcomed a hug so much in my life.  I am thankful for my new friend.  I don't think that we would have come to know each other if it weren't for this site.

I know that there is life after chemo and radiation.  Because I am now a SURVIVOR and proud of it.  This site is good in so many ways.  The ladies here are so helpful, kind and knowledgeable.  We are all going through this together.  I am very fond of the people who have crossed my life since my journey began.

I am doing well and I thank God for that.  I do have an upcoming surgery to deal with but It's all good.  I will get through that too!!!!  (ps...i'll probably make a post regarding that for some advice shortly, i'm just not ready yet.)  Huh?
