Post chemo pains

     Hello everyone

I was dx'ed with stage 3A breast ca,had right modified, radical mastectomy, finished 4 Adriomycin/Cytoxan (every 3 weeks), finished 12 doses of Taxol ( weekly) now I am in the middle of 33 radiation treatment. It has been a month and a half since my last Taxol chemo tx. I had some bone pains and neuropathy as expected during treatment. But the bone and joint pains seem to have gotten worse since chemo is finished. I am having 4-5/10 pain in my knees,my hips,my finger joints,my wrists .Dr. is puzzled about this and he prescribed Celebrex,it takes the edge off but I still have stiffness, burning, pain and aches in my bones.Did anybody have this kind of pains after chemo (Taxol especially) and what was the outcome? I am afraid ca has gotten into my bones but my doctor doesn't think so. Please give me your advice These pains really crippled me. Thank you all and best wishes!!

Hi, My last taxol was 3 weeks ago, I started arimidex 2 weeks ago. I have worse pain now then I did when I was getting the taxol. My feet and toes are so painful it hurts to walk. the pain is mainly from my knees down. My toes feel as though I have frostbite, they are numb and tingly and they hurt!!! I have been taing oxycodone every night, but now I seem to need it during the day too. I don't know what to do, I go back to Dr. on the 13th of July and I will be out of meds before that. I don't think she will refill them either. I sometimes wake up in the night with severe pain in my legs, I don't know what to do. I'll ask about the celebrex, but I just wish it would go away. Anything you can tell me to help i would appreciate. I cannot take any aspirin or ibuprophin now because I am having my exchange surgery on the 15th. Hugs Cathy

Dear Cathy. I am sorry you are in so much pain.I am trying to avoid narcotics I don't wanna be hooked on to them. Celebrex is helping somewhat. But since you are gona have surgery, Celebrex is also an NSAINs like Ibuprohin so you should't take it. Some lady told me warm baths helps, vitamin B6 100mg daily helps with numbness. But there are also  medications like Lyrica,Neurontin  can also be helpful. Everybody says it will get better every week so we must be patient. I also wake very stiff everymorning, gentle exercises help also. I wish you the best luck.
