Now I guess I wait to die.

I found a quarter size mass in my left breast about a year and a half ago. I had so many things going on with my children that I pushed it to the back burner thinking I will deal with it later. Now it has over tripled in size and has started to ache, it had never caused me any pain before. This past week I noticed a bloody discharge coming from the nipple. I have a part time job with no benefits, and absolutely no money for a dr. I have 3 daughters, one of them is disabled. How do people like me get help, or don't we? I am scared to death and wish so badly that I had insurance so I could at least see a Dr. I just feel so hopeless.

Hi K Jordan, I am so sorry, but please don't give up. Call your local chapter of the American Cancer Society, they will give some avenues to get in touch with. There is help out there for people without insurance. What state do you live in? Please call as soon as you can, they will help you. There are hospitals that will give free mamograms, someone will help you. The othere ladies will be able to help you too. Please let us know how you make out. I will keep you in my prayers.

I live in Houston Texas. I'm so overwhlemed and the past few weeks I have become very lethargic. On the week ends I lay on the coach rarely moving except to go to the BR. I still am able to make it to work but it takes everything I have.We have not lived here long so I don't know anyone really. I think I'm beginning to get very depressed and just want it over now.

K, please don't give up hope. There are avenues available. My friend was in the same boat, and she found a woman's organization that paid for her mammogram, surgery, and her chemo too. Just please don't wait.

Hi k.Jordan,  Please do not give up!  There is always hope.  Every cancer hospital has a conection with grants to offer treatment for people just like you.  There have been many girls on this site who had advanced cancers but they didn't give up.  Why just yesturday when I went for treatment I met a women who had been in remision for 15 years when it reapeared.  She had a bilateral this time and is doing chemo but she looked great.  Why?  it was her attitude.  She's not ready to give up.

Do you know why the butterfly is a symbol of hope?  Just when the little catapiler thought his life was over...he became a beutiful butterfly.  Go the the Insperation discussion and read the poem what cancer can not do.  It will help.

We're all here for you.  Keep us informed and let us know what we can do. I love to research so I'll be looking for resources in the huston area for you.

    Big hugs from ALice

     Dear K. Jordan,

I found an application for Financial Assistance at www.cancercare.org. Also, Community Action, they do the Headstart Programs, sponsor or can refer you to organizations that will do mammograms for free.

Your life sounds overwhelming but please Don't give up!

    Susan
