Needle biopsy

  •

I had a stereotactic core needle biopsy a week ago.  I am still in pain.  I am also having pain in my neck that leads to a headache.  I was told the entire process would take 2 hours, it actually took 5 hours.  The needle part would take 40 minutes and it took over three hours.  I asked about pain meds.  I was told most women didn't need it.  Has anyone ever had an experience like this?  When I went for the results on Friday they were not confirmed so I have to have surgery to remove the section.  The nurse was so concerned about the glue from the bandaid that she was hurting my breast.  I had to call in sick because I had such a headache that I couldn't think straight.  I don't know where to turn for answers.  I don't trust the place where it was done anymore, and I had to fight to be seen there.

So sorry you had such a bad experience!  I had a needle biopsy.  It only took about a hour or maybe 2 I;m not sure.  My surgen did it in his office using an ultersound to guide him.  I did have pain after but he gave me vicadine.  I was told it would take 48 hour for the results but they called me the next day and we met with the surgen the following morning.

I really feel strongly that in this fight we face it is vital that you have confidence in your team.  Are you going through a cancer center for these test or at least a breast specialist?  Hope thing get better soon.  HUGS

Kathy, I'm so sorry you are having such a difficult time. I agree that it is crucial that you have confidence in your team. You should seek a 2nd opinion, and find someone that you are compatible with and can have confidence in.

I hate to hear you had a difficult time with this as I will definately be having this done on my left girl. I had a report of an enlarging nodule it enlarged aprox 20% and a new small nodule is now adjacent to the old nodule. Very nervous.

if you are in pain they need to know.  eveyone is different.  especially since your procedures took longer than what is considered normal.  insist on being given something for your pain it is not normal, and they should respect your feeling.  If not and you are not happy with them find another place.  Good luck and much blessing to you as you find the answers.
