It is an awesome book and I would recommend reading it.

I, too, have "Cancer Vixen" and will start reading it soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. I can always read some funny yet informative things on BC.

I found a few other books very helpful (not the scare you to death types - which I avoid now). One is called "Just Get Me Through This!" the author's full name escapes me, but her last name is Cohen. The author is a cancer survivor and offered a lot of helpful tips and insight. The book is easy to read.

I love a book titled "Waking the Warrior Goddess" by Dr. Christine Horner. Dr. Horner offers a lot of information and advice on how to prevent and get through BC. This book is an eye-opener. In Dr. Horner's book, she devised 30 methods we can adopt in order to maintain optimal health. Some are simple, such as drinking green tea and buy organic, while other methods will require some homework. All in all, everything she speaks about makes a lot of sense. I am adopting her methods slowly but surely.

There is a book called "Uplift" by Barbara Karanski (not sure of spelling) and the book is exactly that - it uplifts your spirits. It is full of short paragraphs about different topics from BC survivors and they offer their insights, tips and advice.

Hope this book list helps. I will be thinking of you and wish you all the best. I have stage 3 BC and Her2 positive. I am currently undergoing chemo (Taxol & Herceptin) and am facing a modified radical mastectomy in mid-February followed by more chemo and radiation. Sometimes I feel so depressed so sick of BC, but other times I feel that I will emerge a better and healthier person. I guess the key is to take things one step and one day at a time.

There are times when I find I need to read alot on BC and then there are times I need to take a step back to get away from it. It gets overwhelming. Also, I stopped reading and I avoid all the statistics on surviving and dying. It made me crazy, scared, and worry far too much. I rather focus my energy on getting well.

We have to be strong and keep our chins up!

I try to only read inspirational books, my first book was called Cancer Vixen, I highly recommend this book, it is not only funny, but very informative, it's about the editor of I believe Glamour magazine and her experience with breast cancer, this woman is awesome and so was her book! I read chicken soup for the breast cancer survivors soul, although I can't call myself a survivor YET, I have my 2nd chemo this Wed. the 7th of Jan. I loved the book, all stories from different people with happy endings, made me fill up with hope!! The next book was a cup of comfort, similiar to the chicken soup book, I love hearing other peoples experiences and how they discovered their breast cancer, another happy ending book. now for the book that I did not like was called, "I am not my breast cancer" it sounded good, again different posts on different subjects from fear to hair loss, and many other subjects regarding our situation, these posts were actually taken from an online support group such as this, so I was excited to read it! Well let me tell you, it put the fear of god in me, so much that I quit reading it! So many negative women, very few positive optimistic women, they all seem to be hung up on reoccurence, we all worry about that, but my god they make it sound like a death sentence, it really scared me alot! Many things that are discussed are disturbing, so please save yourself the fear, and stress do not read it! I am now reading a book called, "Cancer is a , just started it so I can't comment! If any of you know of any good books, please share! My favorite by far has been Cancer Vixen, the cover is even adorable and fun! Please share your thoughts on any books you have read or if you disagree with me on anything I have said, especially about the one I did not care for or think was helpful in any way, just the opposite actually.
