use softball awareness

So I'm sure many of you have heard of Hannah, or called "Sweet Pea". She is the youngest case of breast cancer, just 10 years old. And what made me really aware of breast cancer, was her. Sure, before i knew about it, i mean my friends' moms had it. But Hannah being so close to my age (13) made it all the more real. It started at softball. My city was having her come down the day of closing ceremonies (the day we get trophies) and throw a few pitches. Our fields were covered in pink balloons, we made posters for her, and she signed jerseys. She threw the first pitch of the 10 and under championship game and talked with a lot of the girls. Did i personally meet her? No, sadly. But she made me aware. I just recently bought my sister a hot pink arm band for softball, and the proceeds went to Hannah and now i am definitely considering walking this September, if i can raise the money. So even though it may not seem like it, communicating through sports made a difference.

What a very sweet considerate young lady you are. That is a very sad story about that little girl, she is in all of our prayers. Good luck on your walk honey. Maybe by the time you get older there will be a cure. God bless you.

Honey, I am so proud of you getting involved with all of this.  I have a almost 13 year old granddaughter who has been so warm and understanding and has pushed my spirits way up.  When I hear about young people getting involved with these issues I think, wow, here is a great kid.  Many blessings to you.
